ART19 partners with The Telegraph to optimise the listening experience and provide industry-leading ad-serving

Following the success of its pioneering Audio Briefings on WhatsApp, The Telegraph has today launched a new weekday morning and evening show called The Briefing. Through a new partnership with podcasting industry leader ART19, the show will simultaneously be available anywhere that podcasts are heard – including Apple Podcasts, Alexa, Google Nest, Spotify and TuneIn – as well as through WhatsApp.

The Briefing will be presented by Danny Boyle and Chris Price, who have already attracted an audience of thousands of commuters to their daily Audio Briefings on WhatsApp. The new two-minute show will provide listeners with clarity on the most important issues at the start and end of the day with a succinct edit of the headlines and reaction from The Telegraph’s journalists.

The partnership with ART19 will enable The Telegraph’s audio team to seamlessly distribute shows across the popular platforms, provide a better listening experience and faster streaming. The ART19 technology also enables advertisers to benefit from industry-leading ad-serving, response times and targeting, plus the option to refresh campaigns over time.

The Briefing joins The Telegraph’s premium audio portfolio, which includes podcasts dedicated to food, fashion, football and finance, plus agenda-setting news and political shows. Previous episodes of Bryony Gordon’s Mad World, Fashion Unzipped and Chopper’s Brexit Podcast have included Prince Harry, Victoria Beckham and Boris Johnson as guests.

At Global’s annual Upfronts presentation last week, an exclusive sales partnership was announced to enable brands using the DAX advertising platform to easily access the highly engaged, premium audiences that enjoy The Telegraph’s 18-strong series of podcasts.

Elsa Demain-Griffiths, Head of Commercial Innovation at The Telegraph, said: “The Telegraph has been a pioneer of podcasting, using the medium to reach new audiences as early as 2005. Demand is now greater than ever, and through this investment in content, distribution and sales we look forward to helping more brands to be part of our brilliant storytelling.”

Lex Friedman, ART19 CRO, said: “We’re thrilled to have The Telegraph join ART19. This is a global deal that will boost scale and discoverability of The Telegraph’s podcasts plus opens up The Telegraph’s brilliant content to more advertisers.”

The Briefing adds to The Telegraph’s portfolio of products for commuters, which includes the popular Front Page email newsletter, also written by Danny Boyle and Chris Price, which goes to more than 275,000 recipients twice each day, in the morning and early evening.
