Telegraph Media Group Subscription Numbers – March 19th, 2020

PRESS RELEASE
19 March 2020

Telegraph Media Group (TMG) remains focused on a subscriber-first strategy underpinned by long term investment in The Telegraph’s digital transformation: the numbers that reflect the success of our business are our subscriber numbers.

TMG’s transformation will continue into the following years and the 10-1-23 strategy remains central to our vision – namely the aim to reach 10 million registrants and 1 million subscribers to sign up to the Telegraph by 2023.

We are transparent with our core monthly subscriber numbers which are omni-channel.  We also share both volumes and average revenue per subscription, as below:-

In February 2020, we had:

  • 427,488 subscriptions across print and digital, with 971 net new subscriptions.

  • Digital =220,891 Print = 206,597

  • ARPS (blended average revenue per subscription) of £194.02

  • We have 6,155,490 registrants.

Weekly average number of active subscriptions across the prior calendar month. This is for the 4 weeks of February up until and including 23rd February.

The December 2019 subscriptions and ARPS numbers were subject to assurance by PwC, and the next audit of subscriptions and ARPS will commence in March 2020.

Key highlights:-

  • Our Brexit Sale across the weekend of Brexit Day (Jan 31 to Feb 2) led to a 243% increase in digital subscriptions.

  • Our Beat The Price Rise campaign was a resounding success, with 6,389 print subscriptions sold during the period.

  • Engagement for our coverage of the growing coronavirus epidemic began to pick up pace in February, laying the foundation for a strong month for subscriptions and traffic in March as we have continued to hone our retention and acquisition efforts through a series of different tests and approaches.
