TMG Subscription Numbers – March 17, 2022

PRESS RELEASE
17 March 2022

Telegraph Media Group (TMG) remains focused on a subscriber-first strategy underpinned by long term investment in The Telegraph’s digital transformation: the numbers that reflect the success of our business are our subscription numbers.

TMG’s transformation will continue into the following years and the 10-1-23 strategy remains central to our vision – namely the aim to reach 10 million registrants and 1 million subscriptions to the Telegraph by 2023.

We are transparent with our core monthly subscription numbers which are omni-channel.  We also share both volumes and average revenue per subscription, as below:

In February 2022, The Telegraph had:

  • 741,162 subscriptions across print and digital, with 3,498 net new subscriptions this month

  • Digital = 569,640 Print = 171,522

  • ARPS (blended average revenue per subscripti

    on): £172.57

Weekly average number of active subscriptions across the prior financial month. This is for the 4 weeks of February from the 31st of January until the 27th of February. The Subscriptions and ARPS (annual net revenue per subscription) totals are independently verified by PwC. The last audit took place for the period ending December 2021. The next audit will take place for the March financial month period ending 3rd April 2022.

Key highlights included:

  • Coverage of the Ukraine crisis including the daily liveblog, videos from our reporters and photographers in the field, plus analysis and comment led subscriber engagement this month.

  • The energy and cost of living crisis, including the news about smart meters, and changes to council tax and energy bills also saw high engagement.

  • Other topics popular with readers this month included royal coverage, The Sue Gray report, continued pandemic coverage and the Six Nations.
