The Telegraph Launches New Work Experience Scheme

PRESS RELEASE
13 April 2022

The Telegraph has launched a new work experience scheme in partnership with the Journalism Diversity Fund. Ten two-week placements are available, which will give successful applicants the opportunity to gain newsroom experience at The Telegraph over the course of this summer.

The scheme is being launched to offer students from diverse backgrounds, who are passionate about news and journalism, the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a news environment working alongside the Telegraph’s own journalists.

The scheme is open to students over 18 years of age at the time of the placement. The placements will be based within The Telegraph’s central London newsroom, with payment for travel and expenses included. Applications are now open and the JDF is helping to handle the application process.

Ian MacGregor, Telegraph Editor Emeritus, said: “The Telegraph has established a number of entry level routes into its newsroom to assist the next generation of journalism talent from our Graduate Trainee Scheme, to our Apprenticeships and Media Literacy Programme. Supporting the Journalism Diversity Fund, we are pleased to be creating more opportunities for young people to gain hands-on experience in the newsroom.”

Ends

Placements will take place across June, July or August 2022. All applicants need to be 18 years of age or over and have the right to work in the UK.
