TMG Subscription Numbers – June 16, 2022
Telegraph Media Group (TMG) remains focused on a subscriber-first strategy underpinned by long term investment in The Telegraph’s digital transformation: the numbers that reflect the success of our business are our subscription numbers.
TMG’s transformation will continue into the following years and the 10-1-23 strategy remains central to our vision – namely the aim to reach 10 million registrants and 1 million subscriptions to the Telegraph by 2023.
We are transparent with our core monthly subscription numbers which are omni-channel. We also share both volumes and average revenue per subscription, as below:
In May 2022, The Telegraph had:
741,664 subscriptions across print and digital, with -3,057 net new subscriptions this month
Digital = 576,835 Print = 164,829
ARPS (blended average revenue per subscription): £171.06
Weekly average number of active subscriptions across the prior financial month. This is for the 4 weeks of May from the 2nd of May until the 29th of May. The Subscriptions and ARPS (annual net revenue per subscription) totals are independently verified by PwC. The last verification took place for the period ending April 3 2022. The next verification will take place for the period ending June 2022.
Key highlights included:
Coverage and analysis of the conflict in Ukraine and its wider impact on the rest of the world continued to see high subscriber engagement.
A 12-page weekday standalone features supplement in tabloid format was launched as part of a number of enhancements to the Telegraph’s Monday-Friday print editions.
A newly created puzzle PlusWord combining the challenge of a crossword with online word-finding games was the latest addition to the Telegraph’s puzzle portfolio.
TMG’s strategic focus remains on both subscription volume and revenue, therefore TMG’s evolving pricing strategy reflects the drive to increase the contribution of subscription revenues to the business. May saw record average total weekly subscription revenues.
