Jo Morrell joins The Telegraph as Managing Editor

Founding Director of innovative digital platform The Pool UK, and former MD of Future PLC, Jo Morrell, is to join The Telegraph as Managing Editor.

Adding to Chris Evans’ leadership team, in this new role Jo will be responsible for furthering editorial vision, strategy and planning. Jo will help support the business by initiating and driving change and innovation, growing the Telegraph’s appeal across print and digital, and increasing engagement with existing readers and attracting new customers.

Having spent 20 years in leadership roles in media, Jo has experience with product launches, development of content and commercial propositions, audience-focused innovation, and fundraising on the tech scene. In 2014 she became a founding director of Sam Baker’s disruptive and award-winning media start-up The Pool UK, where she is currently Chief Commercial Officer.

Prior to the launch of The Pool, Jo was Managing Director of Future plc. Before this she spent four years as Managing Director of Bauer Media, with a diverse portfolio of brands including Grazia, FHM, Q and Mother & Baby. She has also held directorships at BBC Worldwide and Haymarket Media Group.

Jo will take up the role in mid December.

Ian Marsden, who becomes Head of Editorial Operations and Jenny Hatton, Assistant Managing Editor, will report into Jo.
