Telegraph Media Group Subscription Numbers – August 19, 2021

PRESS RELEASE
19 August 2021

Telegraph Media Group (TMG) remains focused on a subscriber-first strategy underpinned by long term investment in The Telegraph’s digital transformation: the numbers that reflect the success of our business are our subscriber numbers.

TMG’s transformation will continue into the following years and the 10-1-23 strategy remains central to our vision – namely the aim to reach 10 million registrants and 1 million subscribers to sign up to the Telegraph by 2023.

We are transparent with our core monthly subscriber numbers which are omni-channel.  We also share both volumes and average revenue per subscription, as below:

In July 2021, The Telegraph had:

  • 648,469 subscriptions across print and digital, with 12,277 net new subscriptions this month

  • Digital = 464,400 Print = 184,069

  • ARPS (blended average revenue per subscription): £182.53

Weekly average number of active subscriptions across the prior financial month. This is for the 4 weeks of July from the 5th July until the 1st August. The last audit took place for the period ending June 2021. The next audit will take place for the period ending September 2021.

Key highlights included:

  • Coverage of Euro 2020 saw high subscriber engagement, with July 11 when England played Italy in the final being the biggest ever day for Sport subscriber traffic across The Telegraph’s app and website.

  • Alongside football, coverage of Wimbledon, the Tour de France, the Lions Tour, live cricket, F1, and the opening of the Tokyo Olympic Games proved popular with readers this month.

  • Hong Kong Silenced, a new four-part podcast with The Telegraph’s China correspondent was launched.

  • The Telegraph won five awards and four Highly Commended accolades at the Society of Editors’ Press Awards 2020.
