Telegraph Media Group Subscription Numbers – September 16, 2021

PRESS RELEASE
16 September 2021

Telegraph Media Group (TMG) remains focused on a subscriber-first strategy underpinned by long term investment in The Telegraph’s digital transformation: the numbers that reflect the success of our business are our subscriber numbers.

TMG’s transformation will continue into the following years and the 10-1-23 strategy remains central to our vision – namely the aim to reach 10 million registrants and 1 million subscribers to sign up to the Telegraph by 2023.

We are transparent with our core monthly subscriber numbers which are omni-channel.  We also share both volumes and average revenue per subscription, as below:

In August 2021, The Telegraph had:

  • 658,744 subscriptions across print and digital, with 10,286 net new subscriptions this month

  • Digital = 476,255 Print = 182,489

  • ARPS (blended average revenue per subscription): £181.18

Weekly average number of active subscriptions across the prior financial month. This is for the 4 weeks of August from the 2nd August until the 29th August. The last audit took place for the June financial month period ending on 4th July 2021. The next audit will be for the September financial month period ending 3rd October 2021.

Key highlights included:

  • There was high subscriber engagement in the unfolding events in Afghanistan, including the live news blog, comment pieces and in depth analysis.

  • Coverage of the Olympics, the Lions Tour, the Hungarian Grand Prix and the Test series between England and India were also popular with subscribers this month, along with travel restriction news and reporting of GCSE and A Level results.
