The Telegraph Launches Podcast Series: The Telegraph Women's Sport Podcast

18 July 2023

Today (18 July), The Telegraph Women's Sport podcast launches, covering a variety of issues impacting women in sport through interviews with trailblazing female sporting figures. Hosted by Olympic and European hockey gold medallist Samantha Quek MBE, the weekly six-part series, sponsored by Mastercard, will feature episodes themed around the topics of activism, injury, motherhood, success, menstruation and coaching.

The series opens with former Lioness Ellen White, sport psychologist Helen Davis and Rugby World Cup winner Maggie Alphonsi who discuss success, mindset and dealing with pressure.

Other guests will include Alice Dearing, the first black female swimmer to represent GB at the Olympics; Ali Donnelly, CEO of More Than Equal, which aims to find the first female F1 world champion; Fiona Pocock, former England rugby player; and Hannah Mills, the most decorated female Olympic sailor.

Samantha Quek MBE, The Telegraph Women's Sport Podcast host said: “I love hosting these podcasts. Although I’ve experienced everything we talk about in the different episodes at some point in my career, hearing about so many other people's perspectives is fascinating, inspiring and warming. I’m learning so much.”

Sarah Mockford, Telegraph Women’s Sports Editor said: “Appreciation of women’s sport is undoubtedly on the rise and we want to celebrate those across that space, from Olympic champions to grass-roots coaches. This podcast gives women in sport a platform to discuss their successes as well as the major issues that are still being faced.”

This new podcast is part of The Telegraph Women’s Summer of Sport. Throughout the course of the Women’s Football World Cup, subscribers will have access to in-depth coverage and analysis of all the action across print, digital, video and social, with Telegraph football reporters Tom Garry and Luke Edwards on the ground in Australia. Chelsea FC Women’s manager Emma Hayes has joined The Telegraph’s World Cup team and will write exclusive columns throughout the tournament. This coverage follows a dedicated 12-page Women’s Football World Cup preview supplement available on 15 July, sponsored by Xero.
